TCL 5/Hisesne U6G vs TCL 6/Hisense U8G

Currently shopping and overthinking on getting a 65" TV. I think I want some bang for my buck so i have been shopping hisense and TCL. It seems like most people like recommending the TCL 6 despite the google tv issues people seem to be having. TCL seems to look more premium and will look nicer on a wall.

Do yall think its worth it to get the 6 over the 5? I'm not a huge gamer but will likely get an xbox series x or PS5 eventually. I do like movies and would like earc for universal control and atmos so the U6G seems like I shouldn't get it, but it seems like its a better TV panel than the TCL 5. I will be in a room that has a window that will be shining against it, so brightness is needed, so A6G and 4 series are out of the question.

Is the $300 jump from U6G/5 series to U8G/6 series worth it? Maybe worth it to future proof myself? Any thoughts on Hisense over TCL? Rtings has U8G barely above the TCL 6 and the U6G quite a bit higher than the TCL 5 despite not having earc.

Thanks everyone!

Update:

I got the U6G last weekend. Got the cheapest one with the best review and if I felt it didn’t meet my needs I would take it back (thanks to Best Buy’s holiday return policy) and upgrade, I just didn’t want to know what I was missing out on.

I’ve only used it for a few days, but I’m honestly impressed. I’m upgrading from a 2016 Direct lit Sony Android TV that I’ve been happy with, it wasn’t Sony’s cheapest tv back then, I think it was 2 up from the bottom. So from that, just getting local dimming is a huge upgrade and the panel is impressive, crisp, and vibrant. It’s in a room that has a window with bright daylight shining directly on it, but it’s plenty bright, no issues so far. I did a local dimming test on YouTube and I definitely can see the zones during that but not during normal content. There was some ghosting during the test, but again, I haven’t noticed it during normal content. I am not a huge gamer but I do play some switch and Xbox one, just haven’t yet.

I’m not sure how much worse it is than a U8G or TCL 6, but it’s great value, I just hope it has a longevity like my Sony (which will still be in use regularly in a different room).

I would guess getting this tv is a great upgrade and value for someone like me coming off of some older tech, but if you have been using a tv from the last few years that had some of these newer features already, you probably won’t be as pleased with it as I am.
