The Panasonic UB820 does a surprisingly stunning job at upscaling Blu-Rays
I’ve been a part of the 4K blu ray community for about three years. I recently upgraded to a Panasonic UB820, something that truly made a dent in my wallet but seems absolutely vital if I want to watch my 4Ks to their fullest potential.
Anyways, I was watching my regular blu ray for the wizard of Oz, just to make comparisons to my 4K disc, and I was really surprised to see how comparable the image was. Usually, I can spot the difference right away between a 4K blu ray and a regular blu ray, especially on my old player. But with the new one, the picture is actually very comparable. Not the same at all, especially with the lack of HDR color on blu ray, but resolution wise, I’m very very impressed. Makes me want to revisit my blu ray collection and see the improvements for films that don’t have 4Ks yet (or ever, The Muppet Movie, The Mask, Rocky horror picture show, etc.)
