I guess impulsivity and stupidity almost killed me

I know I have a banana allergy, but I am 32 years old, and I have had this stupid allergy for just three years, and banana is my favorite fruit.

Anyway, I had been randomly telling people that I wanted to eat a banana to see if I still had the allergy. It was half a joke but also half serious. All my last banana-related experiences ended at the hospital, but it was just a shot, and I was okay.

Last week, I was with some people, telling them that I was going to eat a banana. There was a hospital very close by, so we could go there to get a shot anyway. They didn't tell me to stop—one of them even said, 'Eat it, I'll take you to the hospital.'

I ate the stupid banana, got an anaphylactic shock, and ended up in the intensive care unit.

I just still don't get it. how could I be this stupid? I knew all about anaphylaxis, but I didn’t think about it for a second.
