Will Museum of Science and Industry be enjoyable without add ons?

Hey! I am visiting Chicago next weekend and I plan to visit the Museum of Science and Industry.

I am seeing a lot of posts talking about add on exhibitions from MSI. Will I still be able to enjoy the museum without extra exhibitions (ex. 007 & U505), or are they the "must?"
