Am I being silently fired for having a baby?
I have been working for a company for almost 9 years. Two years ago I went on mat leave for my first born and it so happened there was another team member pregnant at the same time. My boss would then say to other female staff “don’t get pregnant”, “you’re not going to get pregnant” or “don’t think about having babies”. He has even said across the desk he would hire men as they cannot have babies… Since then I returned to permanent part time and I have felt like my boss is trying to silently fire me. For example, my boss will leave me out of important team meetings. Blocking me from working with regular clients and giving those duties to junior staff. There have been times he has said I’m not taking care of all areas of my job but at that same time he takes these duties from me and passes them to other staff. Last week my boss called a team meeting and explained he was very happy with how everyone is working and that there would be no changes to titles/positions. The next day an email went around announcing two jr staff have been promoted to managers. Then called all other team members senior, aside from me…. This is a job I have given everything to, worked over time, helped the company stay afloat during COVID (when stood down)…. I could say I am well connected in my industry and held with high regard. I love my job but not the company. Yesterday I found out I am now pregnant with my second child! And I want nothing more than to quit this job but I do not want to make rash decisions and bottom line is I need to leave this job with as much money as possible. I am 1 month pregnant. I should have some long service due. What is your advice?
