Is it okay to lion shave a cat?

So I’ve heard conflicting things about this. But I had him shaved due to a mat and now he’s stopped throwing up hair balls and I’ve stopped chasing him down to get poop off his butt hairs. He’s 100% indoors I’m wondering if it’s okay to shave him regularly?
