If you're Zhu Yun's parents, would you still be open about her dating/ getting married to Li Xun? (Lighter and Princess)
I was scrolling on TikTok recently, and I noticed there's quite a discussion about this topic on the drama. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Li Xun's character, even though I enjoyed Lighter and Princess. I just find him too hot-tempered, and it's hard for me to tell if he truly loves Zhu Yun based on his actions. Zhu Yun sacrificed way more for him than he did for her, and I feel like he's too cold overall.
When I put myself in Zhu Yun's parents' shoes, I can understand why it would be difficult to accept a relationship like that. Of course, at the end of the day, it's still Zhu Yun's choice, and what matters most is what makes her happy. But I understand why her parents reacted the way they did and had such strong prejudices against him. Given Zhu Yun's family background, which is deeply rooted in academia, they probably don't interact with people like Li Xun often, and his behavior is likely outside their norm. I did also read the novel and feel really bad for him that her parents did not accept him until the day they pass away. It's genuinely kinda sad.
Maybe it's also because I come from a conservative country with an Asian background, but if I had a daughter in the future who went through something similar, it would cost me many sleepless nights.
I thought this would be an interesting topic to open up for discussion. For those who are parents and have watched this show, what would you do in this situation?
