Part time CFP work advice

I’m a career changer and have worked in big tech and fintech on marketing / product teams.

Want to go into financial advising to be able to control my income long term with an individual practice and also gain practical knowledge to help myself and community. I’ve just started CFP coursework through Dalton. I’d like to get a part time job to start building hours and get experience in the field.

Any recommendations? I’m thinking to reach out to small firm owners as opposed to banks since I still have my 9-5. Plus I’m not sure I’d be a competitive hire since I’ve just started the CFP coursework and have no experience advising *yet.

TLDR; I want a part time paraplanning position while I get through CFP coursework. Has anyone done this before? Any tips would be appreciated
