Fun Motorway Cruiser for £8k-£12k

Hi all, I’m looking for recommendations on a motorway cruiser which has a bit of a bite when I put down the throttle.

Some requirements:

  • Supposedly diesels are best, so happy with that suggestion but would equally consider other fuel types.

  • Doesn’t necessarily have to be “super” reliable, as long as I’m aware of what could go wrong. If the car is nice, recommend it!

  • Will be doing at least 12,000 miles a year, mostly on motorways and A-roads.

  • Don’t care about insurance group.

  • Would prefer saloons, saloon-style hatchbacks and SUVs and no coupes. Can’t be bothered moving seats back for passengers so 4/5 door would be brilliant.

  • I want it to be a bit of fun to drive too. Will need it to overtake Doris doing 50 in the middle lane. I would be open to remapping in the future.

  • Not buying right now, will buy in April/May so if that factors into the choice as cars drop in price.

Looking forward to your replies! :)
