Getting Priced out?

Wheww… it’s actually a little depressing to think my rent has doubled since I moved here 6 years ago. While I love it here and have loved witnessing the growth, I cannot keep up. I feel like the suburbs of Charlotte are already developed and just as pricey. & I can’t fathom the thought of having to take 85 or 77 or dreadful independence everyday to get into the city from the suburbs. Has anyone moved or thought about going somewhere cheaper? 34/F single with a sad salary of 50k.
