Family member got a speeding ticket from Illinois State Police for doing 30+ on I-88.
Evidently 30+ over is now a Class B misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,500. It is their first traffic violation. We are wondering if this is serious enough that we need to get a lawyer for representation, or if this is a situation where court supervision will still be an option like it is for lesser speeding tickets.
