Advice needed: drunk driver incident

Hi everyone, throwaway account for obvious reasons.

I'm currently in Costa Rica and having an amazing time. Travelling from UK. Will post some recommendations at the end of my trip. Unfortunately yesterday I had a terrible experience on the road.

I think I've done everything I needed to re: police, car rental, and insurance. But since I'm unfamiliar with Costa Rica, I'd like to ask if you have any more advice or if there's anything I need to do now before it's too late (e.g. today I'm travelling to a different part of the country so I won't be in the area if necessary). I haven't decided yet if I want to pursue any legal action (and I don't know if it's even possible for this kind of incident).

Details below:

A drunk driver tried to overtake me, swerved into my car & hit it (thankfully only cosmetic damage) then lost control and drove into a ditch. They jumped/fell out of their car before it went into the ditch.

I asked witnesses for help calling the police (my Spanish is limited) but they were initially reluctant as I understand he was making threats. He then punched & scratched me and other witnesses, and tried to get into my car.

Thankfully someone performed a citizen's arrest, then police came and arrested him. Traffic police arrived later, wrote a report, did breathalyzer on me and the other driver etc. Vamos were super helpful on the phone & called the insurance who did their own report.

I was able to drive home safely. I can't thank enough the local couple who stayed roadside for 2.5 hours to help with advice and translation. They are a great reflection on Costa Rica! Pura vida. Thank you
