Carlos selfish for stepping down

Am I the only one who thought Carlos was being selfish for wanting to step down to being a councillor? i mean why move your kids to a public school when you can afford private? Lose health benefits? Stop taking trips? I understand cutting back on spending and materialistic things but like why choose to give up things that can give you a better quality of life?

Edit: I mean he was a CEO. He could’ve chosen his hours and work less to spend time with family. Still have some necessities but cut back on the shopping
