Is this game difficult to get into?

For someone who's never really played any of the games, is this game hard? I only played a little bit of dmc4, and it never really clicked for me. I'm hoping because this is a more recent title that it's more polished and maybe easier to get into. So my question is; how beginner friendly is this game? Do I need action game experience to play it? I just want some opinions from people who played dmc games before I spend money to buy a game, only to realize I don't like it. I'm on ps5 so I can't refund it unfortunately.
