Is an Assassin wise choice?

New to D2R. I’ve made so far a Necro, Sorc, and Paladin all around mid 20’s. Haven’t completed the game yet, I’m trying to see what character I enjoy. Necro is fun and easy but I’m really liking the Assassin just because it feels way easier on mana and they’re really quick with the burst of speed. I’m wondering if Assassins are good through Hell? I was gonna go Lighting Sentry build once I finish the first difficulty. Thanks for any tips!
