Do you think Matthew is acting awfully and comes of really badly when he first comes to downtown? I might be in the minority but I don’t find him that annoying

I have heard people say this but I don't find him that annoying. This is a new world for him and it takes him some time to adjust. I think the only person he is really unintentionally rude to is Molesley but he does learn from that and correct his behaviour so I think it is a good arc. I think in the first dinner when he is saying he will have the weekend to look at the estate is not him putting down their lifestyle. The concept of a valet was foreign to him, it wasn't something he asked for and so he didn't take to it immediately.

Yes he is is a bit disdainful initially about this kind of life but he grows to understand it more and it wasn't at if some of them didn't have that same disdain for his way of life. Look at the way they react to him having a job, in the end he changes his opinions and so do a lot of members of the family and servants do as well
