Package stuck on delivery vehicle for nearly a week - Customer service doesn't know anything.
Last wednesday (1/22/25) I dropped off a vintage film camera I was trying to sell to a FedEx office in Manhattan. The whole process was very easy and quick; packed it up with an atrocious amount of bubble wrap and the employee helped us ensure that everything was good to go. When I tracked the package just a few hours later, it said that it would arrive to its final destination in Georgia on friday - only two days (the company that I was selling the camera to paid for the shipping, so I didn't know how long it was going to take until I got the tracking number). I assumed it was all going to be a smooth experience. On friday morning when it was supposed to arrive however, the tracking website said the delivery was changed and it would take until Monday morning instead. The 2 days delay was completely unexpected and annoying, but 4 day shipping didn't sound so bad. Monday morning comes and now the website says the package has been loaded on a delivery vehicle, and that tracking wouldn't be available until the driver "Devin" starts moving.
It's been in that same exact state since Monday morning. It is now Thursday night and it still says the exact same thing. The package is in Georgia in a neighboring town only 20 minutes drive from the final destination, but it just won't move anywhere. Devin isn't moving anywhere.
I called customer support and they repeated the exact same information to me, claiming that they don't know anything else. The representative was nice and quickly filled out a report to the Investigation Department for me, but that was 2 days ago and I haven't heard anything back. I know investigations take longer than 2 days, but I'm getting anxious because it's been more than a full week since I dropped off the package and I've yet to get compensated since the company won't pay me until they receive the camera (obviously). It's worth more than $300 and I can't afford losing that money.
I considered filing a claim to get compensation for the missing package but I feel like it's not been long enough to be consider such serious action. I've also never filed a claim before. I've never shipped a package before. I should probably also say I'm under 18.
Any advice for what I should do from here on?
