Dawn Bowker was a sex worker hired by April Johns (Fancy Macelli), the people who have said she was Nick's girlfriend are moronic. The relationship aspect between Dawn and Nick wasn't romantic but April meant for it to seem that way as she had her mind set on a second part to her failed "By Proxy" project. The narrative was one where Dawn would play the part of the terrified girlfriend and speak about her experience in the fabricated/fictional relationship and corroborate that she was also victimized just like Gypsy.

However not a thing that Gypsy has said about Nick as a person is true, April knew that. It's why she attempted to fabricate evidence to use in her continuation, where she was willing to make Nicholas look like a monster and lie about him to make her show a success. She doesn't favor the truth as she claims, and was ready to make Nick her sacrificial lamb (not unlike Gypsy) if it meant she'd succeed. It means she's a sick person and was ready to destroy Nick with lies and fictional storylines, pretending he's scary, if it meant she'd profit.
