What if Afton’s “Baby” was his wife?
So if you haven’t seen the new video, essentially Tom suggests Afton used Baby as his accomplice in killing as far back as Fall Fest due to the recent appearances of Baby in conjunction with Afton. Since Fall Fest was the era of mascot suits, Tom says we could meet the person who played Baby, potentially Elizabeth since we have no idea how old she was. But I have another idea for who it could be: our beloved Mrs. Afton.
So most of what we know about Mrs. Afton comes from the animatronic Ballora who was assumably based off his wife. More specifically, Ballora has a song where she talks about singing and dancing while someone hides “behind their walls”. I remember hearing previous theories suggesting this was Afton hiding to deal with the grief of one of his kids dying while Mrs. Afton wanted to focus on more frivolous things. However, what if the song talks about singing and dancing because Mrs. Afton used to be a performer? She could’ve performed alongside Afton in Fall Fest, falling in love with him in during their time together there. However, as Afton got more busy with his restaurants and child murder, she began to shut her out. So Mrs. Afton sings this song to try and get her husband to come back to her, to dance with her like the man she fell in love with once did.
Furthermore, Tom assumes Baby’s original actor was Elizabeth because Baby has always been Elizabeth. The Mimic picks Vanessa because she looks like a grown up Elizabeth, the girl assumably inside both iterations of Baby. However, what if Vanessa doesn’t look like a grown up version of the girl possessing the robot, but a version of the woman who originally played her? It’s fair to assume Mrs. Afton looked somewhat like her daughter, so she could share the same blonde hair and green eyes the Mimic was looking for. The Mimic could be recreating Afton’s original accomplice with another adult woman.
Finally, we never know why Mrs. Afton leaves Afton, we’ve just always assumed it was because of the grief of losing a child. However, Ballora’s song suggests marital issues came from Afton’s decision to focus on business rather than dancing and performing with his wife. After some time, she could’ve just left over that, but I’m gonna take it a step further: Mrs. Afton was just blindly following Afton and didn’t know he was using her to do child murder. She finds out, potentially during Secret of the Mimic, and leaves him for not being the man she married. The Caesar quote could be Mrs. Afton knowing what her husband did but not wanting to expose him publicly. Finally, with no more human accomplice to help him, Afton builds the Funtimes to do it: creating a more obedient version of Baby that Mrs. Afton’s daughter who happens to look like her possesses, and also Ballora, the representation of his actual wife who cared more about performing than Afton’s plans. This way, Afton has a memory of the woman he loved and an obedient accomplice who are now two different entities. There isn’t a ton of evidence for this(yet), but I think it’s definitely still possible.
TL;DR The accomplice to Afton Tom talks about is Mrs. Afton. She looks like her daughter and is who the Mimic is actually trying to recreate with Vanessa. She loved performing with her husband but became sad when he grew more distant and stopped performing due to work and stuff, singing Ballora’s song to try and get him back. She ultimately leaves him when she discovers she’s being used for child murder, but doesn’t publicly accuse him. Afton then created Baby and Ballora to fill the voids of his accomplice and loving wife respectively.
