Where does a person start with Sitka gear?

Hi all! Like the title says, where do I begin? After doing some research it sounds like it’s best to start by buying your core (next to skin) pieces first and then working your way up to the jackets, hats and other accessories after a few seasons as your budget permits. Is this what you would recommend? I also see it’s a good idea to by it piece by piece instead of all at once due to cost, which I completely understand. So my main question is, if you were going to the store today to buy one or two pieces, what would you start with? I should add, I live in North Dakota and tree stand/blind hunt primarily in Minnesota and North Dakota and receive 40% off due to being in the military.
