King Stingray
What's everybody's opinion of King Stingray? I saw them in person this year and they were alright, but honestly I would've expected something more inspired as the opening act.
I saw gizz in '22 and (I'm embarrassed to not remember band's name) the opener was super rocking and set the mood for the killer show that followed. I appreciated King Stingray's theatricity with the didge opening and closing. Plus, they sound like they have sentimental roots in the Australian music scene. It definitely put me in an Aussie state of mind. However, musically, it seemed like at its core a semi-generic pop-punk band with little of the psychedelic or (dare I say) jam profundity that I love about KGLW.
I hope nobody rips me to shreds for saying this. I'm genuinely curious if anyone agrees. I support music in all forms and I think a critical discussion keeps culture sharp. Please respond with kindness, I am not a hater, just a music fan curious about music.
