barium swallow showed no signs of reflux... Soo what's now maybe it's intramuscular pressure?
my ENT said that the barium swallow showed no signs of reflux. She almost stopped believing that I had reflux until she looked down my throat and she confirmed that I did still have LPR. she could not wrap her head around it. Maybe my UES she guessed. I did further research and found out about a theory on IAP - intra-abdominal pressure. The theory is that gas from fermentation in bacteria applies pressure to your LES which then causes the acidic gas to make its way up your larynx.
I did a test on myself with fermentable foods and found, indeed that I was burping as a response to eating them. I’m switching now from a low acid diet, which I’ve been on for months now to a low fermentable diet to see if that might actually help because maybe the problem is not acid, but that it’s actually fermentation and my gut bacteria
has anyone else heard of this? What’s your experience been?
