Profile Review CS Fall 2024
Heya! I'm an Indian applicant planning on applying to CS graduate programs in the US for Fall 2024. I'm mainly looking to specialise in the ML track, maybe with an emphasis on NLP!
I'm a bit worried my choice of unis are a bit overambitious, and would appreciate any advice you guys have for me!
Degree: Computer Science and Engineering
CGPA: 9.7/10
GRE: 168 Q; 162 V; 5 AWA (330)
Publications: 3 related to NLP published (ACL shared tasks); 1 NLP (Under Review for ACM)
Projects: 1 in collaboration with a university in Turkey, related to image processing (a paper was written, but I'm not sure if it'll be sent to be published); 1 general ML project; I do have some projects like a Paint App in Java, and some websites, but I'm not sure if I should include it in my resume/CV since it's not really relevant to my ML background, which is what I'm aiming for. I have them listed on my personal website though!
Internship: 2 months as an intern, working on AI/ML; Research Assistant at my uni for 2 years
Others: Scholarship for my first two years at college; I mentor juniors and teach them basic NLP under the NLP Research Group; Content writer for the ACM student chapter of my college and Cybersecurity club; Head of design for MUN Club.
These are the colleges (in no particular order) I have in mind, and I know some of them are super duper ambitious, sigh:
- CMU MIIS
- UCLA
- Georgia Tech
- UT Austin
- UCSD
- UWisconsin Madison
- Boston University MSAI
- ASU
- UMass Amherst MS/PhD
- Johns Hopkins University
Thanks in advance, guys!
