Why do so many players dislike alchemy?

Hello everyone,

I’m a pretty new player, having played Arena for about 2 weeks and I don’t understand why I see so many people openly disliking Alchemy, saying they’ll never play it and even skip out the whole next release because it’s alchemy only.

To my knowledge Alchemy is literally just standard but stuff that’s too strong can get adjusted and weak cards can get buffed. Wouldn’t a format that is almost identical to another one except it’s more balanced be straight up superior to the other one?

The only thing I could think of is that people that’ve played Magic for a long time don’t like their op decks getting nerfed which I kind of understand but shouldn’t every player that’s not abusing an op meta deck strictly benefit from playing Alchemy?

PS: As I said, I’m a new player so please don’t bash me too hard. This post is not supposed to shit on Standard format. I’m really just genuinely curious.
