A personal analysis of the current SD/Marvel SNAP situation

Hello everybody,

I wanted to write this for a while now and the circumstances are ideal to talk about how bad the reputation of SD looks like right now.

Quick presentation; I played Snap since release up until Valentina's release. I don't have a family to manage but Snap started taking all my free time even though I was not grinding ladder like a maniac. The regular get the season pass, do your dailies, climb Infinite ( which I was able to do almost every season ) play the conquest and get every reward SD threw at us players.

I obviously started playing other games and spending few bucks on other games and I started to see how disrespectful was SD towards us players.

I'm not going to go into the Series drop because we said it all already. But I want to go back to release. SD day-one promised that card acquisition will be accessible to every player who will login daily and play the game on a regular basis and that everything locked behind a paywall will be pure cosmetics.

With time passing by we've seen it so many changes that kept dragging card acquisition behind money. And not cheap stuff. This is one the first red flags of SD. Cards are extremely hard to buy, craft, get via spotlight caches and the frequency keep going up. We went from 2-3 cards/month to 5 including a season pass card you can only get with real money.

One of the worst lies that SD threw at our faces for a while, their inability to push updates quickly. Now I don't know how the app's deployment at SD works but I've seen way too many games push a bug fix and sometimes a respectful update within days and sometimes hours after the previous update. I personally think that SD has been always lying about how they operate to keep the damage control team happy.

In theory, they can listen to what we've been saying since they announced this shameful series drop and make a better list, hell they can even push the new "card acquisition" mechanic they've been talking about for more than a year now.

Snap creates a constant feeling of FOMO, shop rotation every 8 hours, unability to purchase the variants you like because of how the shop works and makes us players extremely invested and unable to see what's happening elsewhere because you know.. when you're playing Snap on a daily basis, you don't have time to play anything else.. but it's better anywhere else.

The prices of cards and variants in Snap is extremely crazy. I know they read us all and they know exactly how I feel and Streamers are kind of shifting to some other games but the lies is what triggers the playerbase the most I guess.

They were hidden the return players rewards. They never communicated about it, only via sponsored ads. It was exclusive to redeem if you returned during Deadpool Dinner which is a joke as an event in my humble opinion.

The game have no pity system. 6K tokens is a shit load of tokens to farm, you can use it to get a card that can be nerfed next week because another card made it a little bit more OP than the others.

SD as a dev studio buys the art for the variants for a cheap price compared to the quantities they sell. Artists don't obviously get royalties or a percentage of the sells which is already alarming.

This whole situation is bad rep for Marvel Entertainment itself!! I really love the universe in films, on tv and with games but endorsing a game made exclusively fun for big spenders and almost impossible to recruit newer players is a bad investments.

The gameplay is fun, obviously, but are you guys able to keep having fun when you have to farm every bit of credit possible so you can get rewarded a spotlight key and take a change during the new card release ? I wasn't able and this is why I stopped.

I speak only for myself and I know other will relate, but the game started feeling like chore to me, like a job where i will be left behind if I don't do all the missions I had. I was 3 cards aways from being a collection complete when I stopped so I was in a pretty good shape game wise when I decided to end it all. Daily and Season missions started becoming more complicated and made me use 3-4 different decks that I needed to build so I can get what? 50 credits ?

Until today, I keep reading stuff log in once in a while and delete it again immediately. It's not fun to be welcomed with a shop where the cheapest bundle is 20 bucks. Hell, the Jean Gray bundle was a pure piece of shit move. Why would you sell it with this price if you bastards were planning on dropping her a series. In real life, even a store owner will suggest you to buy a product in a few days if he knows a sale is coming.

How many cards did we get for FREE. Like, you log in and finds out that you got a card for free? Once. Kitty Pride. Why ? because it was bugged. When ? 2 months after its release.

Mocking players with Deadpool Dinner's doodle is like an insult to me. We as players, gave them our free time and money and at least we deserve a little something in return.

Before saying that they also need to make money, they are absolutely fine. Always in the top charts when it comes to revenues. Most of the Marvel Snap streamers are also using their own money to buy stuff so SD isn't just throwing infinite gold to them so they can buy everything. Afaik they get 2K or 3K gold a month for being in the creator program.

5 cards a month with the price of a single cards ranges between 10 bucks and 100 bucks is really wild.
They always say we need to manage our resources. How tf can I do it when you have a new card release every damn week with weeks featuring 2 NEW CARDS ffs!

F2p games shouldn't give everything for free. But SD sounds like they want people to spend money and not enjoy the game anymore. Maybe they're bored of it. Maybe they made so much money they stopped caring about the game at all.

Should we complain to Marvel ? To whom ? SD clearly listens and sees our threads here and there. But they clearly don't want to give a single extra game content more easily. They like the way it brought them money and they'll keep doing this shit because even though we're talking about it 24/7, some people will still pay the price's bundle and feel like they got a hit.

Things need to change and we, as players need to stick together. I really wanna come back but not in this economy.
