Setup tips
Hi there,
I want to use game streaming since I don't have a current game console. My desktop PC has a Ryzen 7800X3D, a 7900XT and 32GB of RAM. My main monitor is a 1440p 21:9 ultrawide with 144Hz and my second one my old 60Hz 1920x1080p screen. I have Linux (POP_OS!) and Windows (Windows 11) in Dual boot. On my daily use I prefer Linux way much over Windows but I only got Windows 11 to have less hastle with gaming.
I want to stream Games to my Living Room TV. Ins an 4K Sony Bravia Android Smart TV. I want to play PC games like Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, No Mans Sky, Indie games and I am also big on emulation and mods. I would like to have one frontend which can be controlled well with my gamepads (8BitDo SN30 Pro + wireless and 8BitDo Pro 2 wired).
I haven't been a PC player for years. So I have to get into it again
Now I have the following questions:
Windows vs. Linux which is better for Moonlight/Sunshine streaming? And Why? What would you recommend using?
Is it okay to use the Moonlight game Streaming app on my Android TV or should I get something else? What and why?
I would like to have a nice frontend from which I can manage my PC games (I have libraries on Steam, GOG, itch.io as well as some single DRM free PC games, mostly small Indie games, most of them from Humble shop) and my retrogames/Retroarch as well as some modern game emulation (Dolphin, PS2, Wii U). I would like to have a nice theme and everything being usable with a game pad once it is set up. What would you recommend? I know of things like Launchbox, Steam Pic Picture, EmulationStation, Lutris... but I don't know which is good for a combination of all my games. What setup would you choose?
I heard that it can be problem to output 4K resolution to my TV since my connect PC screen is only 1440p. Is that true? What can I do on that front?
What other recommendations do have?
