Chicago Georgian Revival Opinions
r/Oldhouses, I come to you seeking opinions. I am looking at purchasing a brick mid-century Chicago Georgian house. For those of you unfamiliar, the Chicago Georgian is a square house with a hip roof with no soffits/eaves. https://www.buildyourownchicago.com/BYOKC/Georgian.html
The house seems to be in good shape on first walk-through, will need to do an inspection. Those of you who have lived in or worked on this type of house, what problem areas should I take a hard look at?
AMany homes of his style around Chicago have no eaves to speak of, only a gutter system on each face. This is the case for the house I am considering putting an offer on. I would be concerned about this causing problems, but there are 1,000's of this type of house in Chicagoland, is my concern of no overhang on the roof / no eaves/soffits misplaced?
Thanks all in advance!
