Reactive dog - 5 years old - where do I start training him?
I am tired. I am confused. I am training my dog some basic obedience. He is 5 years old. He is reactive. He gets aggressive with people when something or the other is triggered. He is extremely aggressive with dogs. He is un-neutered. Will get him neutered today or tomorrow.
I am so tired. He bit another stray dog today and is hurt himself too. They got into a very bad fight. I've given him a bath with his muzzle on then used a dryer and combed him (he hates all of these things, and is a bite risk, all the neighbours thought i was abusing him or smthng lol cuz of the noises he made throughout this process).
I had trained him as a puppy but not enough. He knows sit, spin, down, shake, all very lame things that do not help. He also does not do this without any treats.
He's a bite risk, I know some of his triggers- people getting too much into his space, resource guarding the bed, his toys, the food, touch sensitive. Some situations i don't know why he bit the particular person.
So since he'd been trained in his puppyhood, I was watching kikopup and a lot of people recommend her here as well, so I figured I'll restart training him entirely. I have started with sit, stay, come here/release. He did really good. But then, today he ran out when the door was open and got into a fight with another alpha male dog of the street. Both were not letting each other go. I interfered asap and my dad got a little hurt as well cuz he was trying to seperate them too. He did not get bit, but a little skin scratch due to him falling down while trying to seperate him. My day had just started, and I was just starting to be happy about how my dog is getting better.
I am now extremely tired and numb.
What is wrong in my approach? Please help me make my dog better. He deserves a better life and I will do whatsoever I can to give it to him.
