Best Air Miles (or other travel?) Credit Card?

I've been using the visa my parents set up for me as a student for years now. They're co-signers on the account and there's no reward/benefit besides low interest rates on it. I've been able to keep it at 0 monthly by paying everything off right away for ages now and I want to close the account and pick up a new card with better benefits. I'm specifically interested in a credit card where I can earn points on purchases toward flights.

I bank with scotiabank and I see airmiles is only available through amex or BMO. Scotiabank has their scene+ where, it seems, you can use scene points for travel now... but it also seems most places you can earn points is only grocery stores (v.s. air miles where it's something like 1 pt to 10$ 2 pts to 10$ at partners).

Anyone have any recommendations?
