Considering a Substrate Switch – Is It Worth It?
Before setting up my tank, I shared my plans for a heavily planted setup with my local fish store, and they recommended an inert baked clay substrate. I’m not sure if it was the best choice, and reading about all the different substrate options has been a bit overwhelming. I’m considering making a switch to a nutrient rich substrate if it seems worth it. The plants I’m most concerned about are Limnophila sessiliflora, Hottonia palustris, Monte Carlo, and Rotala Yao Yai.
