Finacea Question- newly diagnosed

Ok so here is my situation, I was recently diagnosed with Rosacea and was prescribed Finacea. I was told to do twice daily but from reading here my plan is to ease into it, as well as using moisturizer as a barrier to help the potency. Here’s my question, I have a huge event in 3 weeks time and I’m concerned that my skin will be in the “worse” stage at that point and I’m wondering if I should wait 3 weeks till after the event and start then. I’m a guy so using cover up for the event isn’t really an option.
