A thought about Dylan

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this, and it may not be something that is ever confirmed in the show, but I think Dylan has ADHD. His outie is confirmed to have difficulty holding down a job, and we know his wife can't rely on him to remember 'extra' obligations like making slice and bake cookies. His outie appears to be kind of 'stuck' on the couch, which happens to people who struggle with executive function.

His innie is super motivated by all the small rewards. People with ADHD are often taught to reward themselves with small things to keep the dopamine going, and they tend to thrive in highly structured roles, particularly when there is an opportunity to hyper-focus. Another strategy that helps people with ADHD sometimes is called body-doubling, which is this thing that happens when an ADHD person is somehow able to focus better just by having another person in the room. The Lumon workspace is set up perfectly for this. There are other tells such as Dylan's creativity, his tendency to be a chatterbox, and his impulsivity (biting Milchik comes to mind).

ADHD can erode a person's sense of self-worth and competency. Outie Dylan has such a defeated, depressed air around him. We only see tiny slivers of the chutzpah that innie Dylan has. I could be totally wrong, but I have lots of experience with people who have ADHD, and this is what it looks like to me.
