Sewing Pattern Confusion!

I am a large, so per the pattern I cut 2 yards of muslin fabric (I’m mocking up my design so that I don’t waste pretty expensive fabric on beginner mistakes).

But since 2 yards of fabric does not make a perfect square, I can’t fold it into the triangle it is saying it needs to be to cut on the fold. I don’t know what to do at this point, please help!
