(Why) are ski shoe size charts wrong?
I don’t understand why ski shoe size charts seem to be always guiding towards too big boots? I would understand that general sports stores that don’t specialize on the sport have it wrong.
But, when looking at the size chart of the manufacturers and also websites like skiessentials.com, they all seem to recommend larger boots.
For example: I am a US size 12/12.5 or Euro 46-47. Even 47.5 in some sneakers. Now all size charts guide to a Mondo 30/30.5 which is so off in real life. I ski either 28.5 or 29 depending on the model (the latter feel rather big typically).
I do understand that people buy too large boots instinctively but why have manufacturers and stores not calibrated their sizing guides?
