Entering a difficult teaching assignment, any tips?
Once break is over I'm stepping in to take temporary control of a middle school class. School is in dire straits due to shortages. The sub watching the kids last few weeks had no access to student info/curriculum and as of yet neither do I.
I took home their ungraded work to see where they are and try to get names down since I don't have them yet. They haven't really been able to get a page of like 4-5 page packets done and I have to get them caught up (without being sure of where they are supposed to be).
I met the kids and I love em but behaviors are obviously all over the place. Hopefully admin gets me the info I need like names & parent info & lessons on the Monday we return since it's a no-student day but I worry lol.
What are some ways I can plan this class in case I don't get that info, get them where they need to be, and control behaviors without having all the necessary tools? Feeling slightly overwhelmed
