Why do Indian parents hate their kids spending time with their friends (F24)?

Hey folks! F24 here, currently living with my parents after leaving my job for 6 months, trying to change field.

So what happened is, few days back I told my mom me and my friends will be celebrating one of my friend’s birthday at my other friend’s (single male friend in my group) place. I told her as all my friend’s are working we are only getting sat evening as they also need their sunday for some personal work. Which led her to question me for being “too modern”in this case, escalating the topic to some scenarios like : what if some neighbours calls police and they see 5 grls with one boy, this is delhi, “kuch bhi ho sakta hai”. Now since its quite a time i havespent with my mom I have trained myself to never loose my nerve instantly

I explained her (politley) of nothing will happen its safe space , ill video call you if you wanna check on us etc etc. She kept yapping but i just didnt give a fuck and left the room.

Now after 2 days, today morning, she started this whole story infront of my father who tbh doesnot give a. fuck now, he is more likego wherever just tell.But the tone in whixh my mom said stuff to him was so sus man as if I am going to get pregnant or drugg addict after it. My father as alway didnt reply but yaar this might affect the relationship w my dad. Like he didnt react anything and I am just spiralling here overthinking on what he might be thinking of me.

Every fucking time , whenever I have to go out with my friends I have to go through the same shit- loads of silent treatment, sus tones in conversation, long list of questions that needs to be answered by me to my mom. Dude I am 24 😭

And even after all this she has the audacity to ask me that you kids dont share anything with your parents.wtf woman 😭
