Question about Ymir

When we see slave Ymir's backstory, she basically gets sentenced to death and then runs into that tree and gets the titan's power. Then after that, she becomes enslaved by King Fritz and blah blah blah, everyone knows the rest. It might be the old timey filter they have on it and the time period but is it King Fritz who first sentenced her to die after thinking she let the pig out or was it some other ruler? The color filtering makes it kind of hard to tell.
