Did your parents limit your reading growing up?
I'm currently binge reading The Empyrean series, and it reminded me of my childhood. I've always been an avid reader, and read at a level way ahead of my age. At one point I was a member of like 3 book club subscriptions to have enough books to read (each sent me a few books each month). When the fifth Harry Potter book came out (766 pages) there were a lot of news stories about kids getting migraines from reading too much, which led to my parents limiting my reading time. I was also not allowed to bring books I was reading to school because reading during breaks was labeled as "antisocial behavior" by my teachers, and they blamed me not being able to make friends on my "excessive" reading. In reality it was my way to self-regulate in a highly stressful environment, and also one of my special interests.
So yeah, I'm just really thankful to be an adult that can read Onyx Storm for 6 hours on a Sunday without it being made an issue.
