My connecting flight was missed and rebooked. 6 hour delay

my flight got delayed because of a protest at VCE italy airport. Which caused my connecting flight to be rebooked now to a later flight that's 6 hours later initially was only supposed to be 2 hour layover going to LAX. Since that plane left, and the plane the put me in is now 6 hours later....can I get compensated in anyway? This is with air france.
