It is wild to me how many people have 5-starred Onyx Storm.

It's going to be the worst book I will/have read this year, and there are a hundred books in my 2025 tbr.

The chemistry between the two main characters is so forced, and unbelievable. POV1 almost gets killed and doesn't communicate to POV2, so what does POV2 do? Push POV1 into a room and rail them missionary style, and do that again 4 more times in a row. I'm not kidding. How many times can a main character almost die, and their love interest take that as motivation to bone like there is no tomorrow.

All of these "rare" characteristics, suddenly everyone has. Two dragons? Two Signets? Never happens. Lets make sure the entire party has them. Classified signet? Super rare. Let's make sure they all have them. Oh, they died? Lets bring them all back to life. Brother, best friend. You get a revive, you get a revive, every character gets to revive.

This book reads like it wasn't edited. There is just constant action sequences where brand new characters die, and there are zero consequences or plot changes from all of them, Also, POV teleporting, because it's fun when a chapter changes and the main POVs are just across the planet instantly.

Oh, that most sacred bond between dragons, where there is nothing more emotionally powerful, eh, not really powerful anymore. And for the heck of it, lets add another vanilla missionary scene here.

The dialogue somehow got worse, the world building is just name dropping new people and cities and moving on.

The ending is probably one of the worst written cliffhangers too, you gotta give it to Rebecca for making me respect the ending of The Sopranos after writing an ending worse than that. I would've preferred a fade to black, many times over.

It sucks because I liked book 1, book 2 was meh, and this is just going to kill the series for myself and many others.
