Audi tail mod + turn signal help

I'm looking to doing the Audi mod and I was going to use the middle triangle as a turn signal instead. I read I just need to wire the turn signal into the blue wire with a resistor. Has anyone done this themselves? I have no clue what a resistor is but it seems like a easy mod I'd like to do myself. Thanks in advance
