Any suggestions on how to convince a private course to allow handcarts?

I belong to a private course in NJ. Nothing fancy. Just 18 holes and only has golf. The course is almost completely flat, with few hills.

I mentioned to management about the idea of allowing members to use their own handcarts over carrying your clubs or paying for a cart. Their basic response is "we don't want to look like a municipal course by allowing handcarts."

My guess is they make money from forcing members & guests to pay for carts. Any good way to suggest to get them to change their mind on this? I'd like to walk the course, get my steps in - but don't want to carry a bag (even a light one).
