Do people still play Wild?

Hello I’ve recently returned to hearthstone after a very very long leave from it and my love for the game has come back. I made myself a deck and decided to play as much ranked as possible to get the max amount of rewards. However I seem to come across for the most part the same generic deck over and over again only coming across a possible real player here and there. Is it because I’m only rank Gold 3 and due to the fact that since we are closing to the end of this season that all the real players are in platinum and or have reached legendary?
