How would you handle this situation with your neighbors (agressive?) dog?
I live on a private drive, shared by 4 houses. Our neighbor has 2 golden retrievers. They have installed an electric fence on their property that goes right up against the shared drive. The dogs are very protective of their property. Every time a car passes the dogs run right up to the road barking, which isn't really an issue. The issue is when I walk my dog past.
Their dogs run right up to the road, barking, snarling, even foaming at the mouth. My dog ( a german shepherd) is fairly well behaved, but he sees these 2 dogs aggressively coming at him, and he doesn't know there is an electric fence, so he starts to pull towards them, barking. The entire time walking past their house is like a tug of war for me, trying to tell my dog to leave it. There have even been a couple of times where their collars have been on too loose and they have come and actually started to fight with my dog. This has happened when the owners were outside, so I know they see it, I just don't think they see how big of a deal it is for me. I am trying to get healthier this year, but walking past their house is such a huge anxiety for me I am avoiding it.
The weird thing is, their dogs are actually very friendly when I am not with my dog. And the neighbors are very nice people. How would you handle this?
