PSA: Game pass version of this game is the diminished quality you can expect from microsoft

Okay, so the game pass version of indiana jones....

  • Doesn't interact with nvidia drivers correctly, frame generation in many cases is entirely broken and non functional and performance is abjectly worse all round. Attempting to manually add thegreatcircle.exe to nvidia app optimizer causes a error "you don't have permission to open this file, contact the file owner administrator to obtain permission" - you must follow the complete guide in the link
  • Game pass encrypts save files, unlike steam version, game pass users cannot access the .dat save files, they can however access the cfg/local config files at C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\MachineGames\TheGreatCircle
  • As a result of being locked out of save data, if users encounter game breaking bugs such as the whip bug - the only recourse is loading one of the 3 roll back slots provided by the game, as manually saving is not a feature of the game. This means potentially loosing hours of progress and only providing the chance for a working save file - again none of which you can manually back up yourself even if you wanted to.

So, to recap, the microsoft version of this game has greatly diminished performance compared to the steam version with no way to back up your saves in case of game breaking bugs. Pretty much you just have to toss a coin and hope your game that runs worse doesn't break before you finish it.
