Need some Help!
Hello!
I coach minor hockey (13-14 year olds) in Canada and have for years
This year we drafted an amazing forward but after our first practice found out he doesn’t speak a lot of English.
His family moved from France 1 month ago.
He’s a really good kid and a phenomenal hockey player. Really nice family too but they’re also just learning English.
Basically, what can I do to learn as much possible French in the shortest amount of time in order to make sure he’s getting the most out of this year. Specifically, I want to learn things that I can use to help with hockey!
I’ve already offered to help him with his English, and have signed up for a Udemy course on French but want to make sure there isn’t more I can be doing. I want to help him with his English so that he can converse with his teammates better, I don’t ever want him to feel isolated.
I’ll only be coaching him for 6-7 months so need to do something quickly haha
I don’t want to waste any time so point me in a direction and that’s where I’ll go!
Appreciate any help I can get :) sorry if this is one of a million posts like this
