Writing this for my neighbor...
She (73) had a POA signed when she was very sick (2 years ago) and didn't know if she would make it out alive. Her daughter and son hold the POA (medical/financial).
While in ICU they sold her house, and possessions. She is now living with her daughter in a new state from where the original POA was signed Louisiana to Colorado.
She has no say in anything was daughter gets her social security check deposited in her account and just recently said she was taking her to a nursing home. Which I'm 99.9% sure can't happen as she doesn't need to be in a nursing home. The daughter just doesn't want her live with her anymore.
I told her she needs to get the the POA revoked and send off copies to social security, banks, Medicare, so she can start getting her money to actually make decisions.
They just moved here about 6 months ago. The house she had sold was for 105k in Feb 2022.
Anytime they go shopping (she is only allowed to spend $100 every month at Target they covers necessities along with clothes and shoes). Her daughter will use the MasterCard (that is suppose to have her funds) but she used that card for her purchases as well
Her daughter also has all her IDs. Driver's license, social security card, marriage certificates.
What steps do I need to get her help.
**EDIT*
thank you everyone who responded. We are setting things up for her.
Her daughters tune changed about a week ago as our neighbor put her foot down being used as servant to everyone in the house. Her own grandkids took after their mom and talked down to her.
Now she's told her she will be placed in a nursing home against her will in a week. Which I know can't happen as her daughter doesn't have a conservatorship/guardianship over her.
Anytime she leaves our house (we are 2 houses up ) with papers her daughter immediately asks what are those. So a lot just stays at our house now.
