I don't understand how some people say the lyrics are aromantic
I'm aroace but I still don't get how the lyrics are aroace. Then again, I'm autistic so of course these altruistic metaphors will cause me to misconstrue :p /ref
I hear people talk a lot about perfume, especially "It seems like all our friends, Abruptly fell in love, And she was in the dust. Darling, life was streaming past. So she learnt to lie, she learnt how to pretend." The only reason I don't think it's aromantic is because of the lyrics after, "Why can't you be a dick? Why must you be so nice?" I personally interpreted this as the "you" being manipulative rather than aroace, that could just be me projecting though tbh.
The other one I see a lot is from YCGMA "I thought I couldn't love anymore. Turns out I can't, but not for the same reason as before" because of the lyrics after saying how the speaker "abuses those they love while they ostracize the ones who love them back" I interpreted that as being the reason they can't love anymore, not being aromantic.
Please share your interpretatios of how Wilbur/Lovejoy lyrics are about aromanticism :D I'd love to hear them
