Advise to set up a business in marketing?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I’m an entrepreneur by nature, and during my last (failed) business in e-commerce, I developed a passion for marketing—despite having no prior experience in the field.

To give you some background, I’m from a Portuguese island with around 100,000 people. Opportunities here are almost nonexistent. On top of that, the mindset in Portugal generally revolves around: “What’s the least I can spend on marketing? It’s an expense,” instead of, “What’s the maximum I can afford to invest in marketing without hindering my business?”

I’ve tried to break into the Portuguese market, but it’s tough. Businesses here don’t really value marketing, and, honestly, I felt a visceral pain engaging with people who thought like that.

My dream clients are ambitious, driven, proactive individuals with a growth mindset—people just like me.

What I’m doing now:

I’m setting up a marketing business where I’ll focus on strategy and planning for my ideal clients.

• I’m designing a value ladder and funnels for my package-based services (these will be one-time payments—no recurring payments).

• I’ll generate traffic through Instagram and LinkedIn, posting one piece of content daily in English.

• For higher-ticket packages, I’ll also do outbound sales, leveraging my background in sales.

This is a simplified plan of what I’m working on.

My questions to you:

• Do you have any advice for me?

• Is there anything I’m missing?

• I understand the likelihood of failure is high. What can I do to minimize it?

• Any other suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your input!
