krogan ally achievement reward not working

im playing me1 legendary edition as a non soldier, my achievements say i unlocked krogan ally by doing 5 missions with wrex, but i am not regenerating 1 hp per second. im not regenerating hp at all. wtf. again, the achievement is unlocked - why isnt the reward working?
